Botanical gardens in Aarhus

Just next to Den Gamle By -or The Old Town in English- (the open-air village museum), you can find the Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden is one of the largest in Aarhus. It covers an area of approx. 21.5 hectares. It stretches from Den Gamle By to Aarhus University and was founded back in 1875 as an experimental place for trees and plants.

You can visit the Botanical Garden at all times throughout the year. It is a nice place to visit especially in the spring and summertime when it is ideal for a picnics as there are tables in the garden, in case you bring a portable grill for a nice barbecue. Visit the Botanical Garden for a great relaxing time.

The garden comprise of a hilly terrain with open lawns and a small intimate, green space. A stream runs in the garden through three lakes. You will find a great selection of plants, including an area with a selection of medical plants.
