If you are to visit the Aarhus Cathedral or perhaps you just want to go to the center of Aarhus for some shopping, you might as well take a look at the small Viking museum, just next to it. You will find it at the Nordea bank. Look for the stairs and go down to see the birthplace of Aarhus.

Some 1200 years ago the Vikings founded Aarhus – at the same spot and level where The Viking Museum is situated in the basement. You will get a glimpse of what Aarhus looked like in that time and how people use to live. This was the time of the famous viking king Harald Bluetooth.

The museum is small but impressive, with real artifacts and realistic duplicates from that time. You can also see models and animations, that will give you a taste of the viking period.
