After having decided to study in Aarhus, the next difficult step is to find an apartment there. This is a website that offers apartments and rooms for students in the city, and it is, by far, the most popular option among students.

What do you have to remember?

• Create your account as soon as you know that you will be studying in Aarhus (the earliest is 6 months before you start your education).
• Look for apartments and choose the ones that are interesting for you.
• Check the estimated waiting time for each apartment that you are interested in. Depending on the type of the apartment, contract, and location, the waiting time can go from one month to over 24 months.
• The apartments can be for 1 or 2 persons although only one of them has to be an enrolled student. You just need to add the other person to your account.
• You can live there as long as you are a student therefore every month you have to reapply and prove that you are still in school by sending the information requested from the company.

 

2. Facebook groups.

This is another good way to help you broad your search and find accommodation in Aarhus. It is a free alternative to other websites where you need to pay to be able to see the full information about the available Aarhus student housing listings.

• There is an easy access to these groups. Simply send a request and you will be accepted soon.
• Aarhus Internationals is a group with 15 053 members (19th of February 2017). Here, people post everything they want, so you can find information about the daily life in Aarhus, job offers as well as apartments to rent.
• Lejligheder til salg og leje i Århus is a group with 47 638 members (19th of February 2017). Most of the posts here are in Danish, but it is the biggest Facebook group collecting offers connected to renting of apartments or rooms in Aarhus.

On these, you will find a large concentration of apartments for rent such as Bolig Portal, Bolig Siden, BDK, Danmark Bolig, Leje Bolig, etc.

What do you have to remember?

• You need to pay to get the contact from people offering the apartments. These services are not cheap but you can choose different types of subscriptions that can be for a few days or a few months.
• A lot of people are looking for apartments on those websites so, you need to be lucky to get one within a short period of time.

 

4. Find Roomate 

This is a website where you can find offers from people looking for roommates.

What do you have to remember?

• All the rooms are subleased in private homes. It means, that you can not find a private apartment, just a room.
• Most of the offers are from students. This could be a good way to find a place to live and at the same time find your first Danish friends.
